Still, if you're someone who has been looking for a new MMO to sink dozens of hours into, Throne & Liberty has the potential to be quite unique in the midst of a growing competitive landscape. There are a lot of solid ideas to be found within this MMO, but my own time playing the game was so brief that I feel like I still don't have a full understanding of what it will have in store. It's still hard for me to know what to think about Throne & Liberty moving forward. As a whole, I'm not against Amitoi being implemented in Throne & Liberty, but I think there is definitely a way for them to fit more cohesively in the game. It's worth noting that I was only able to get a look at one specific Amitoi in my own demo, so I'm not sure if the litany of others that will be found in TL will be as tonally distinct. From what we've seen so far, there seems to be a single playable human-like race, although that might change in the lead-up to launch.Compared to the predominant dark fantasy art style that Throne & Liberty primarily boasts, the Amitoi are chibi-style in nature and don't mesh all that well with everything else found in the world. The game allows you to create your own character, offering a good amount of choice in terms of customization.
They can, of course, be fought over in larger battles that pit guilds against each other. Objects on the map, like Blessing Stones and Dimension Stones, can be controlled by guilds, offering various enhancements and materials. Guilds are also a part of Throne and Liberty and can engage in wars. This means that you won't encounter situations which force you to participate in PvP, which is great news if you've had one too many bad experiences getting ganked in the genre's early days.
Players who want to face off against their peers can opt in. You can equip two types of weapons at any given time and freely switch between them, tapping into the different skills they grant your character.Īlthough you can adventure safely through most areas, PvP does become possible when certain events start. Throne and Liberty's combat system revolves around your choice of weapons. You won't have to pick a class and stick with it for the rest of your playtime, either. It is also said to launch with a day/night cycle alongside a dynamic weather system that not only change the visuals and atmosphere of the world but also the events players encounter while exploring. The title will feature both surface locations and multi-level underground dungeons. Throne and Liberty's open world is made up of a single massive zone that players can venture across.
